What is the difference?

Venetian plaster is made with marble dust and lime putty, burnished to a high polished sheen. Marmorino uses finer marble aggregate and produces a more matte, stone-like surface with subtle natural variation. Both are lime-based, breathable and extremely durable.

When to choose Venetian plaster

Venetian plaster is the right choice when you want a high-gloss, mirror-like finish with real visual depth. It reflects light beautifully and creates a sense of luxury that paint simply cannot replicate. Ideal for living rooms, hallways and statement walls.

When to choose Marmorino

Marmorino is better suited to spaces where you want a natural, stone-like appearance without the high sheen. It is particularly popular in bathrooms, kitchens and period properties where a more understated finish is appropriate. It is also slightly more forgiving in humid environments.

Cost comparison

Both finishes are priced similarly — from £50–90 per m² depending on complexity. Marmorino can sometimes be slightly faster to apply, which may reduce labour costs on larger projects. The best way to decide is to see both finishes in person — contact us for a consultation.
